If you don't remember the Classic Mad Magazine (1970's Mad Magazine), you’re probably one of my younger readers, you should definitely Google it. When you do, pay close attention to the art of Jack Davis, Mort Drucker and Sergio Aragonés. This is where the Artist, Michael Hopkins was born. Throw in some flavoring through later years by Bob Hale, Bob McCausland and Al Hirshfeld and you have ingredients that inspire me to this day.
Back to my Inkcoholicism
Inkcoholicism (INK-kuh-HAW-LIH-zum), as defined by the Michael Hopkins Cartoons Dictionary is a chronic disease in which a person craves putting pen to paper and is unable to control his or her drawing. For me, ignoring this compulsion to draw results in an overconsumption of unhealthy food, ingesting massive amounts of caffeine and falling asleep on the couch. Which leads to weight gain and eventually depression sets in when I realize how fuckin long its been since I’ve drawn anything (or written a blog… )
Here we go again…Yay!
Although updates to The Michael Hopkins Cartoons Blog have been few and far between lately, there's still some new art that I have recently created to show you.
